Spring is Gonna Be HOT!

Sad news is, our friends at The Spider Web in Dania Beach, Florida, will have to close their doors. The good news? Now, they have the time to take up on all the invitations they've accrued from across the Deep South to visit and enjoy events and festivals. So, watch out! Mr. and Mrs. Spider Web are ready to roam and revel!

The webcast radio show was something of a quandry, though. How to keep up radio presence without having the responsibility? The solution was to allow the hosts of CFTP to manage the station. So, when this information was presented to us, the first thing we did was contact all of our distinctive associates, affiliates and acquaintances; asking them if they'd like to join the foray at Third Eye Live Radio Productions on Blog Talk radio.

You can still enjoy "Nightbreed Paranormal" on Thursday nights; "Get Motivated" with positive life-coach JDOGG on Monday nights. "Conversations from the Porch" will continue to streak its proverbial fingernails down the polytheist chalkboard on the 1st and 3rd Sundays of the month.

But... April is gonna get HOT! So far, we've confirmed a new one-hour special show that will happen every month (on a Tuesday / TBA) by everyone's favorite "Pagan Dad": Patrick McCleary.

Also joining the conversations hosted by TEL, is Mary from "Yogasana with Mary". She will be bringing her distinctive Yogasana lifestyle management system to the airwaves. Each week, Mary will discuss all manner of technique and diet to support your own unique body-mind-spirit connections.

Nose to the Grind

Been a while. Yes. However, with as busy as our winter season gets, it is not so surprising! And, here we are, again... Going round and round on the rollercoaster. So, what's new for 2012?

OMG! If anything were set in stone, yet, I would blab it all; but, nothing is. YET...

So, here's as good a teaser that you're going to have:

Feb 19th: "Open Porch"... Call in and chat us up about some of the things you've heard on the show. I mean, we've interviewed a Proto-Indo European reconstructionist, Swain Wodening, Victoria Claire, Aed Ruadh, Rev. Alicia Lyon-Folberth... Gladsheim popped in, once. Mar 4th: "TBA"... Morlog, Ik and Uruzz are supposed to attend a mini-moot this weekend, and "Sparky" might just have to host her own show. We're still discussing the topics, but, she's the astrology / crystal- NErd. You never know!

Mar 18th: "Celtic Cluster Feck"... The Ik and Sparky are slated to chat up some of Celtic Reconstructionisms leading authors in lieu of Saint Patty's Day. Ellen E. Hopman, Deiniol Jones and Erynn Rowan Laurie have already confirmed their participation. Now, if we can get our hands on a reputable Fey specialist...

THIS is where it gets hairy, because around this time we should have some extra, super-duper programs lined up for TEL Radio Productions. (We're just awaiting our potential- and future-hosts to conduct some serious contemplation, and confirm their participations.) As expected from the CFTP hosts, nothing will be 'mainstream', 'normal', or boring! (Ik's promise.)

There are some shows that need a little tweaking, but, this is a general listing of what to expect in future from your CFTP broadcasts:

"Would UPG - FU?" ... A debate (or, debaucle?) with cutting edge guests talking about "unsubstantiated personal gnosis" and the effect(s) on modern reconstructionism and practices.

"So Mote It Be, Devotee!" ... The pros and cons of devoting oneself to a particular god and their nuances; realistic expectations and the seriousness of oath-binding.

.... And, music! We're amassing permissions for a better "Uruzz Rocks" segment. Hang on to your hats, listeners. No poor-quality, backyard jam sessions allowed! (You can find those on other "pagan" programs.)

So, stay tuned in to see what TEL Radio Productions and the hosts of CFTP have in store for you... It only gets better from March.

Besides the supposed "end of the world" in December, there are a few things we, at CFTP wanted to share with you - our crazy listeners:

As soon as possible, the CFTP online store will be operational (our projection, is by the end of January). Steins, shirts, and the infamous "recon calendarium" will be available for purchase.

We're slotted to attend the Florida Pagan Gathering for Beltane 2012... on a broadcast weekend. We will be contacting our sponsors at TEL Productions to see if we can schedule a Saturday night slot; this way we can broadcast live, directly from the FPG!

Upcoming Episodes...

2012's first broadcast is January 1st - on New Year's Day is the "Recon Calendarium". We will be discussing northern European time-keeping and lunar significance to holy observations.

February's second broadcast is our quarterly special, "Wyrd from the Web". We will be conversing with Ms. Victoria Clare from The Troth; as well as, another fine and famous heathen who shall remain nameless (so as to keep you all on the edges of your seats).

March ushers in some madness the Sunday after St. Patty's Day with the "Celtic Cluster Feck" episode. This show will feature some of the most established figures in Celtic Reconstructionist paganism and representing the various paths of CelticR.

April 1st - All Fool's Day - will be an "Open Porch" broadcast. All "Open Porches" are subject to our listeners' feedback; questions, comments and complaints. The phone lines are open, and you are encouraged to bring up anything you wish to address from previous shows, or, whatever other pagan / heathen things you'd like to!

Another agenda will be forthcoming.

The Story of Our Lives

The story of our lives are written by those who have come before, helping to etch our characters into the fabrics of time. All too swiftly, our brains turn to seasons of independence and freedom from the shackles we consider our childhoods to be; anticipating the growth and sproutings into mature adults.

Yet, our stories still remain unwritten by the time we flutter, awkwardly, away from those tiny nests we consider 'home'. We traipse the Earth, desperately trying to carve our niches into the stone faces of the world; always wondering back to simpler times... Seems only eons ago, really. There's no place like home.

Returning for meager gatherings of those scattered souls we once knew as safe-haven cocoons of oppressive love, nostalgia creeps into the shadows of the brain. Fleeting coincidences of Grandma's perfume reminds us that, once, we escorted her back and forth to Church... such a bother for teenagers... And, where is she, now? Ah, yes! The child-sized shoebox urn over on the shelf; her smiling face alights the front by way of an old photograph.

I miss her "dream toast" and "mushroom chicken" lunches.

Listening to a seldom-recited dinner prayer being uttered by my aging agnostic father, my heart suddenly wrenches around in my chest. My teary eyes glance over to my son, and realizations of mortality slam into my head: will my son care enough to paste a photo of me on anything, after I die? Will my great-grandchildren ever forget my physical interactions, but, remember a fleeting coincidental odor indicative of 'home'?

My parents' etched themselves into the fabric of my life; I am a reflection of my 'home'. Alas! They are not too far from the next world. I cannot help myself - I, truly, am a "softie". My dad looks over at me. Briefly, his serious gaze bores into my soul, acknowledging the bittersweet truths of mortality. Quickly, he *tsks* and cracks a terrible joke that we've all heard many, many, MANY times before... the entire family laughs, like, we've never heard it.

"Toss me a croissant," he bellows. "And, for Christ's sake - stop getting all sappy!"

Happy Thanksgiving, people.

Winter is Upon Us... Yule is in the Air!

The snow drifts down and blankets the earth in a shawl of feathery whiteness. The stark silence is noticeable; most of those noisy birds are too damn cold to sing. Unless, like us, you're in Florida. Not only do the snows force many birds into our area as they head south to migrate, but, other "birds" - very noisy ones - perform a yearly exodus from up north, and into the tropical climes of our humid state.



Alas! Not much complaining can be done. Without the annual migrations of the North American Blue Hairs (or their younger counterparts, the Part-Timers) our economy would suffer greater than our eardrums and auto insurance policies. What is a native to do?

Prepare for Yule, of course! This seasonal celebration is our largest yearly event; it keeps growing each year. And, with everyone else's desire for major life-changing events to take place during the cooler months, we are absolutely swamped with activities and travel throughout South Florida. Expect the Unexpected

The hosts and staff had a surprising shock while setting up for the October 16^th broadcast; the CFTP show and link disappeared off the Third Eye Live [TEL] Productions line up and show listings page. An Oregon listener sent a private text at about 4:42 p.m., informing us they could not find the show, anywhere. We had already been working to re-establish the link since 4:39 p.m.

At the time, it was unconfirmed whether, or not, CFTP had been cancelled due to “questionable” subject matter, dialogue… you name it. So, for the last 20 minutes before The Dead broadcast, The “Ik” had to break into the Blog Talk account and re-add the Conversations show without any prior experience. With the Evil Sock Monkey looming overhead and dictating additional information, we were able to get everything embedded and live – with 2 minutes to spare! Kudos to the production crew!

Later, the CFTP hosts discovered that we had only been scheduled on a “trial” basis; and, had already been approved to remain a permanent fixture on TEL Productions. Unfortunately, due to the hectic schedule of the TEL crew that whole week, the slotting process got overlooked. [Oops!] Thankfully, we were able to broadcast in time, and we all hope that everyone enjoyed The Dead broadcast for what it was (we, later, figured we could talk about the subject for the next 2 or 3 months).

This filters through to our upcoming November broadcast: Curses, Hexes & “Left-hand” Magicks. For truth, you cannot speak of the dead and how certain funerary rites must be performed in order to avoid cursing the living – or, the dead. I can say, without preamble, the CFTP crew hopes to continue discussing “taboo” topics, inserting the hosts’ twisted humors; we think it is one of the best ways to learn.

There may be some of you who are just thrilled with the topics, as of late; finally, listening to others who are unafraid to “go there”, or else, just validating the conclusions you have already come to within your own studies and / or research. However, there is an underlying current to this next broadcast that should – nay, requires explanation.

Northern European reconstructionists have only just begun to delve into these subjects; re-constructing the processes and such, from archaeological discoveries. The formulary (recipes and prescriptions) can be found in relics and old texts, but, the methodology (system and manner) is what seems to be missing from “restored” polytheistic practices. We are forewarning you, our listeners, that what you will hear for the Curses, Hexes & “Left-hand” Magicks broadcast may go against everything you’ve ever learned. It is also possible that you may hear some things that might come across as insulting to your specific heathen / pagan practices.

I would like to remind you, the listener that CFTP presents information to the public based on the hosts’ interpretations, and experimental processes. In saying this, I must (for all intent and purpose) make one thing abundantly clear: You cannot heal, if you cannot hex. Do not attempt any ‘retribution magick’ or, ‘negative magick’ unless you are confident in your ability to reverse it. The upcoming Curses, Hexes & “Left-hand” Magicks broadcast is not intended as a means to justify anyone performing such magicks, or, to make claims to the actuality of any discussed magicks being effective.
